North Dakota Eclectics

Early Prehistoric
Early Prehistoric Period (17,000 B.C. - 5,500 B.C.)

The first people to inhabit the area that was to become North Dakota are believed to have been the descendants of the people who crossed the land bridge during the time of the glaciers.

Archaeologists have elected to refer to these people as Paleo-Indians, except that they hunted large animals with spears.
