Late Prehistoric
Late Prehistoric (600 A.D. - 1738 A.D.)

The Late Prehistoric period lasted from 600 A.D. to 1738 A.D., and can be divided into the Late Woodland, Plains Nomadic, and Plains Village, although each of these continued into the Early Historic Period, which might be considered to have begun in 1851 A.D. when the first reservation was established in North Dakota.
